This is our very favorite sort of project: awesome, fun loving, open-minded and trusting clients and a build team that was on top of every request with quality work, great ideas, and a smile for us every day. This young family had owned their summer home for years, but had put off any serious work on the house until their children were a little older.
They asked for a chic, coastal, transitional space with a “breezy” feel - sounds good already! We selected details that were restrained, yet high-impact, like that fabulous chevron tile backsplash in the kitchen and the coastal-modern cable stair rail. And get a load of those floors - WOWZA!
Next, we selected the furnishings and the bling (AKA: lighting). We stuck with a mostly neutral palette, but it is a Bayberry Cottage Design, so color still played a big role. A couple of strong, beach-flavored pops of color and we were ready to accessorize. The gallery wall was a big surprise, even to us. It had been planned as a serious nod to the nautical, but in the end, we opted for colorful fun instead and raided Bayberry’s back room for a truly custom look.
Our unveiling of the space was great fun. The 3 children hadn’t been in the space in 8 months, so there were a million details for them to check out, and though mom and dad were an integral part of the design process, there were plenty of happy surprises for them too. A fantastic end to a fantastic project!
